Art Journal Pages As of Lately

Well since I haven't blogged in about 7000 years up until the past week or so, I realized that there are many pages in my art journal that haven't been shared on here. I get lots of questions about my process when it comes to creating these pages, and people seem surprised to hear that I rarely work with a plan. It's a very therapeutic thing, kind of like my mind spilling out on paper. I glue, I doodle, I add in words and quotes and phrases that are in my head at the time.

I get a lot of questions about my art journal/sketchbook. Basically it comes down to this: I don't work with a plan, I map nothing out, I just cut and glue and paint and draw and make a mess. It's always interesting to me how pages turn out. Usually filled with flowers and stars, and often female faces. I guess I don't really know what it all means, but it comes from someplace deep within my mind.

Hiding From the Heat!

The kitties still enjoy the sun from inside the air conditioning...

I feel like I am snowed in or something. Except heated in. It's almost 104 degrees in Columbus and it's only 1pm. It's too hot to even go to the pool. I tried to take my art journal outside for a little photoshoot and only lasted two pictures, so I came inside and started shooting random things.

Goooooood mooooorniiiiiing (said like Oprah, possibly while waving arms)!!!! Looking for recommendations! After almost a year, my beloved art journal only has about 12 days of space left in it before it is completely full. I thought I would be excited to fill it up and start fresh in a new book, but I am feeling oddly sad and sentimental about finishing this one. I can look back through the pages and remember some amazing and also not-so-amazing times over the past year.

The End of a Season.

mixed media art journal

I see the seasons in a really weird way. I feel like it is either always winter or always summer. Spring and fall always seem to fly by so quickly, which sucks sometimes because fall is my favorite season. But I feel like it is cold for so so long, then it starts to warm up, then bam! It's summer. Same with fall. Summer starts to wind down and then I blink my eyes and here we are in the middle of November. I pulled all of my flowers out today, which is always a pretty significant moment, marking the end of a season.
