It’s finally here! The cherry blossoms are blooming, the magnolias are opening, and there are teeny tiny beautiful leaves everywhere. Yesterday, I was commissioned to work on a very special project honoring a very special person. After a couple hours of very emotionally-charged emails with my new client (and I’m also going to say friend… we had an instant, kind of other-worldly connection), I decided to take a walk, smell the flowers, watch the sunset, and appreciate life.
I hope everyone is ready for spring photos galore… Fall is my favorite season, but I think early spring is one of the most magical times of the year. I had a very powerful moment while watching tonight’s sunset, remembering how I was feeling last year at this time. While taking my long camera walks, my mind was constantly thinking about how I was going to pull of quitting my awful job and following my dreams. Back then it seemed so impossible. Sometimes I really did not think it was possible at all. But here I am, a year later. Yesterday marked 7 months since I walked away and did not look back. Take risks. Believe in yourself. Don’t ever settle. Ever read any of Mary Oliver’s poetry? For the past few days I’ve been a bit obsessed with her. I’ll leave you with this one:
“Ten times a day something happens to me like this – some strengthening throb of amazement – some good sweet empathic ping and swell. This is the first, the wildest and the wisest thing I know: that the soul exists and is built entirely out of attentiveness.”
