I love Tumblr. Admittedly, I did not understand it at first. It honestly seemed like a bunch of angsty teens posting photos of either skinny girls smoking, glittery iPhone cases, or Justin Bieber (haha upon typing his last name, I just realized I didn’t know if it was spelled “Bieber” or “Beiber” and had to Google it… that makes me oddly happy). However, within the sea of nonsense, there are some really beautiful blogs.
Now these are not your traditional literature-based blogs of stories, how-to’s, and life lessons. Most of them are in fact just photos. But for artsy souls, sometimes photos can say more than words. Some Tumblr users theme their entire blogs: whether it be Bohemian, or shabby chic, or gardening. Then they will post photo upon beautiful photo sticking to that theme… creating a waterfall of eye candy. Other people just post what they like, which is really interesting to me, because peoples’ personalities emerge when they are using no words at all, just photos of what they like.
One of my favorite Tumblr blogs depicts the seasons. It is a photo gallery style, and flows endlessly from winter to spring to summer to fall to winter… on and on and on. I wish I could find the address. It’s amazing. In any case, if you haven’t checked out Tumblr, maybe give it a try.
Lately, I have enjoyed starting my day by just scrolling through my Tumblr feed in bed, while I am still waking up. Follow people who post photos of nature, flowers, waterfalls, animals. Funny pictures, happy things, coffee. Any little thing you can do to remind yourself of how many amazing things we are surrounded by will enhance your day. Therefore, from here on out I’d like to share my favorite images that I’ve come across on Tumblr every Tuesday… and so Tumblr Tuesday is born
